Who is Cosmelan for?

Cosmelan is suitable for women and men who suffer from pigmented lesions that have been difficult to manage with standard skin care and chemical peels. Even when you have given up on your skin and think nothing will help, this results-driven medical grade treatment will restore your hope. Cosmelan Professional Treatment is effective for:

Why does hyperpigmentation occur?

Skin pigmentation (melanogenesis) is a natural process where your melanocytes, a cell located in the lower epidermis basal layer, produce melanin to protect your skin against the solar radiation UVA/UVB. Melanin is produced by the oxidisation of the amino acid tyrosine. The natural process of flaking and skin renewal eliminates the melanin. Skin pigmentation disorders occur when excessive localised melanin is produced because of external (sun) or internal (hormone) influences. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production leading to uneven patches of lighter or darker skin. Melasma is primarily caused by a combination of sun exposure and hormonal changes (estrogen and progesterone) that stimulate the darkening of pigmentation on the skin. It appears as dark patches mainly on the face, typically on the cheekbones, forehead, upper lip and chin.



How does Cosmelan work?

Cosmelan Professional Treatment is the breakthrough procedure that eliminates and controls hyper pigmentation through a process of intense depigmentation, continuous depigmentation, control of hyper-pigmentation and preventing reoccurrence. Compatible with all skin types, Cosmelan effectively corrects and treats pigmentaton caused by sun damage, ageing, acne scarring and dermal pigmentation. Through medical grade active ingredients, Cosmelan decreases the skin's melanin production by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase. Constant regulation of the melanocyte controls both intra- and intercellular melanin production, which prevents repigmentation. The 2 step process consists of an in-clinic treatment followed by a strict home care regime which must be adhered to for maximum results.

Mesoestetic Cosmelan Process

Cosmelan professional treatment is a two step process, with the first step performed in-salon and the second step including products for home that must be strictly used to see results. This is at least a 6 month commitment, with preparation, treatment and homecare prescriptives all being essential to achieving lasting results.

IN-SALON TREATMENT:

Phase One - Intense depigmentation

Assessing the skin with our skin specialist is the first step of this treatment plan, to ensure it is known what pigmentation is being treated and to establish the long-term care plan. Following a deep cleanse with the oil-removing solution, Cosmelan 1 Peel is a medium depth peel that is applied by our skin specialist in-salon, left on for 8-12 hours and removed by the patient at home. Prior to application our skin specialist will determine the duration that Cosmelan 1 Peel should be left on and instruct the patient on when and how to remove it. The next day, you are expected to have some redness (similar to a light sunburn) for 24 hours and on the 3rd or 4th day, intense skin shedding will occur.

AT HOME TREATMENT:

Phase Two - Continuous depigmentation (month 1)

In order to prevent the reoccurrence of hyperpigmentation, Cosmelan 2 will begin 5-7 days after the removal of Cosmelan 1. Cosmelan 2 is a tyrosinase inhibitor which is applied three times a day (morning, midday and night), followed by hydra-vital factor k and moisturising sun protection SPF 50+ after daytime applications.

Phase Three - Control of hyperpigmentation (months 2 and 3)

Cosmelan 2 is applied two times a day (morning and night), followed by hydra-vital factor k, and moisturising sun protection SPF 50+ during the day. In case of sun exposure, reapply UV protection at midday.

Phase Four - Controlling reappearance (months 4 to 7)

The tendency to develop dark spots presents an ongoing risk, which is why the control phase involves the prevention of new spots for a longer-lasting result. Once the method is complete, it is strongly recommended that sun protection is continuously used to prevent reoccurrence. Cosmelan 2 is applied once at night, followed by hydra-vital factor k. Moisturising sun protection SPF 50+ is applied during the day and reapplied in cases of direct sun exposure.

Mesoestetic cosmelan investment options with eloquent eyes

The in-salon Cosmelan 1 Peel accounts for 30% of the treatment results, with the homecare providing up to 70% of the benefits.
